Money is something that we should all manage wisely. If you take in consideration what you spend and how you spend it, you will be quick to realize that there is a great amount of your money that goes to waste everyday. This is the same money that if managed properly, could go towards a car, down payment on a home, your 401(k), paying off payday loans, or even a well deserved vacation. There are many easy money saving tips that can go to more needed and desired things if you follow a few valuable tips.

Let’s start off by using cash instead of cards. Most of us are aware that we spend more money when we use our cards than when we use cash. Using cash gives you a physical visual of how much money you are truly spending away. It also allows you to have a benchmark whenever you go shopping. For example, before going to the mall bring a set amount of cash that you are willing to spend. Once you run out of money it is time to stop shopping. This will keep you from over spending.

Another money saving tip is to cook your own dinner and pack your leftovers for lunch the next day. If you are the type of person that frequently eats out then you should keep in mind that eating out costs money that you could have saved if you simply cooked your own meals. Cooking your own meals instead of eating out also promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Staying healthy and in shape is a very important part of life; but it can be done without paying those overpriced gym memberships. Instead of paying for a gym, consider running instead. You don’t have to pay anything to run or jog around your street or at a park for exercise. Think of the money you will be saving each month.

Now let’s look at the amount of money that is wasted in your home. There are simple painless things that you can do around the house in order to save money. For example, how hard is it to turn off the lights as you leave a room? You can save a lot of money by simply using less electricity. If your house/apartment has enough natural light coming in during the daytime then there is no need to turn on a light. If you do need a light then turn it off once you are done using it. Also, take shorter showers to save money and consider using fans and space heaters to cool and heat your home.

These tips will work if you stay consistent with them. Think about all the money you could be saving if you make yourself more aware of the expenses you could be avoiding. Motivate yourself to save by thinking of the important, needed, and desired things that you could get with the money you save.
